for advice on my Stihl trimmer that has been running like crap. Most of you suggested just replacing the carb and I pretty much agreed. Then I got lazy because summer came and I didn’t need it. Today, I noticed that it wouldn’t prime with the gas cap on and ran OK with the cap off. So I replaced the gas cap for $8 and now it is running like new. Vent lines must have gotten clogged up. I still plan to do a full carb/air filter/spark plug replacement before next summer, but I also needed to replace the worn out trimmer head today so we’ll see how it runs through fall and spring.

I’ve got the same one too, nice unit. I had to replace the carb after 10 years of running pump gas through it. I’m switching over to the non-ethanol gas for the next ten years. It was amazing how much better it ran after the replacement, it must’ve been struggling for a bit.

I have no complaints. It is a great little trimmer and it really wasn’t much more expensive than competing models at the big box stores. Might be worth keeping a spare around if your dealer is anything like mine - it is a barn just off of a small town main street that is also a gun shop. I love them, but they are only open 9-5 Tuesday - Saturday.

I’ve been very happy with mine as well. My dealer is a professional setup that mostly sells equipment to tree trimming businesses. Very good place, so no worries there for me.

Hah I wish I was as funny as him. My trimmer is a slightly different model. Also his shop is a lot cleaner than mine. Do you ever sleep?
